Tree Maintenance: Watering

Caliper Inch= Width of Trunk

WEEK 1: A 2" caliper tree needs 5 gallons of water, 3 times in the first week (planting, 4th day, and 7th day). A 1" caliper tree or smaller needs 2.5 gallons, 3 times in the first week.

YEAR 1: After the 1st year, water 2.5 gallons per caliper inch once a week. (Water twice per week when temps are above 80 degrees, preferably early morning and afternoon, just after the heat of the day.
