Evergreens & Conifers

Evergreens and Conifers add character to your yard, offer year-round foliage, and enhance your landscape for years to come.

Evergreen means that trees will retain their foliage and stay green year-round; they keep growing leaves as other leaves fall off.
Conifers are cone-bearing plants. They are not necessarily an evergreen, nor even green. They are generally needled or scaled and hold their needles all year.
Evergreens make the perfect privacy screens and windbreaks. They come in dwarf sizes to massive ball-and-burlap varieties.  They provide habitats for animals year round and enhance your landscape with beautiful textures and vibrant greens and blues.   They generally endure cold weather and dry seasons very well.

To figure out what type of evergreens and/or conifers will work best for your yard look at the purpose of them in your landscape – windbreaks, privacy screens or decorative?  Look closely at the soil type as some prefer acidic soil and others need alkaline soil.  Most evergreens do best in full to partial sunlight. Certain evergreens don’t do as well alone in the cold, they need the shelter of a grouping to give them protection for the below zero temps and gusty winds. Consider how tall you want your evergreen to be in 10, 20, 40 years from now. Will it fit in that location or be overgrown?

Watering & Care instructions:

1-3” per week unless it comes from rainfall.
Especially water during hot, dry periods. Water until it rains or ground freezes.
Evergreens lose moisture all winter so use Wilt-Stop/WiltPruf before winter
