Color Blocking / Color Blending

Feeling Overwhelmed by the Coming Yard Work?

We know MANY of you are working at recovering your yard after all the damage last year. We are going to offer some great ideas for creating a colorful backyard oasis.

Consider one of the BIG Design Trends for 2021 - Color Blocking.

Consider planting in batches of color to create vivid, eye-catching statements. The tulip garden beds in Pella set up beautiful displays. They definitely do color blocking. However, they also do color-blending.

What is color blocking? Simply using different plants of one color or shade to create an eye-catching effect. What is color-blending? Taking colors that harmonize with each other (like the white, lavender, and purple or the orange and pink tulips mixed together).

Consider creating a rainbow of color in your gardens. Stop in and talk with our experienced staff to help you get ideas of what plants and colors will work in your garden space.

Cool colors (blue, violet, and white) tend to make the garden look larger and bring calm. Warm colors (yellow, orange, and red) bring excitement.
