Project Manager / Estimator

BladeWorks is growing fast, and we’re ready to bring in someone who knows the landscaping or construction world inside and out to help us take on more projects this season.

We’re a family owned company that’s been landscaping around Eastern Iowa since 1992. You’ll be stepping into a small but ambitious team that wants to go after as many great projects as possible this season. Your knowledge and systems will help make that happen.

What this role looks like

You’ll be the person helping turn ideas into real projects. Meeting with clients, building bids, pricing out materials, and making sure everything is scoped accurately. You should be comfortable reading plans, writing estimates, and understanding how the numbers behind landscaping and outdoor construction actually work.

We’re also looking for someone who brings knowledge with them. If there’s better software, better tools, better ways to estimate or track projects, we want to hear from you. We will provide you with the materials you feel are required to do the best work possible. 

A few things you’ll be doing

  • Writing and presenting project estimates and bids
  • Calculating materials and labor for patios, plantings, lighting, and outdoor spaces
  • Keeping up with current material pricing and average install costs per square foot
  • Working with our team to scope projects correctly before they start
  • Helping improve our systems, estimating tools, and project workflow
  • Staying current on trends, materials, and best practices in landscaping and outdoor construction

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience estimating for landscaping, hardscaping, or construction projects
  • Is detail oriented and comfortable working with numbers and measurements
  • Understands how material pricing, labor, and timelines all connect
  • Keeps up with industry trends, tools, and pricing standards
  • Is confident recommending software or systems that would make our operation stronger

Your ideal background

  • Experience estimating and managing projects in both public and private sectors
  • Familiarity working with local municipalities, counties, and state level projects
  • Comfortable navigating permits, bid processes, and public project requirements
  • Experience acting as the main point of contact with engineering firms and planners
  • Background as a project manager coordinating with general contractors and subcontractors
  • Understanding of how to manage multi party projects with engineers, cities, and contractors involved

Landscaper

BladeWorks Landscaping is looking for an experienced landscaper who’s ready to jump in a machine and get to work. We’re a hardworking, family owned crew that takes a lot of pride in what we build, and we’re hoping to add someone who brings both skill and creative vision to the job site. This is a hands-on role for someone who already knows their way around equipment and job sites.

We’re hoping to hire ASAP, and the right person will truly make an impact on our team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Operating equipment such as skid loaders and end loaders
  • Jumping into machines confidently and working efficiently on active job sites
  • Helping bring landscape designs and outdoor projects to life
  • Logging and reporting hours accurately to your supervisor
  • Paying attention to details so every project looks clean, professional, and built to last

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in landscaping and/or construction
  • Experience with loaders, mini excavators, tractors, etc
  • Able to work/build with your hands
  • Someone who is comfortable working with plant material
  • Ability to read blueprints, ground elevation stakes, etc
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Someone who can move quickly, work efficiently, and think creatively when building landscapes
  • Someone who is capable of mindfully & respectfully handling equipment, treating it as if it was their own property 
  • Valid driver’s license
